Design and construction for a global brand

We were appointed to design and construct a new platform within the operating canning facility in Wadeville, Johannesburg. The platform was designed to carry 95 tons of water tanks, filling plants, as well as operation, control and sampling rooms. The platform spanned an area 19m wide to accommodate existing canning facilities below.

Construction of the facility was carried out during downtime and with nil dust production in order to meet health and safety standards of the food and beverage industry. The construction programme was non-negotiable as the completion had to coincide with the plant installation programme which involved specialised teams from the USA, UK and Germany. This project was our first project using BIM in the design and construction management.
